The week has been flying by. We are working on the pledge, and will need to recite it on Friday for a quiz grade. Hopefully everyone is using the link on TEAMS to listen and practice at home!

It was a busy week with projects and alphabet books. Next week we will finish our projects on Why Learn Spanish, and we will begin pronunciation practice with the Pledge of Allegiance.
I hope everyone has a nice long weekend!

This week we learned a lot about the Spanish alphabet and how to pronounce the letters. We said the letters, practiced saying words, sang songs, and now we are creating alphabet books. The books are now homework, with a due date of August 30. Next week we will begin to learn about why it is important to learn Spanish! Students will be working in groups to discover the benefits of being bilingual.

The week has flown by! I am excited to get to know all of my wonderful learners. Next week we will begin with the Spanish alphabet and pronunciation. We will also discuss why it is so important to learn Spanish. To study the Spanish alphabet, students may go on to the website www.spanishspanish.com and click on the letters of the alphabet to learn the different sounds. Note: please be sure to have headphones or earbuds for school starting next week and keeping them with school supplies every day this year.
You are here! This is where you will look to find assignments and activities for Spanish class. You may find general weekly topics, homework, and dates for tests, quizzes, and projects. Any reminders I need to give will be posted here.
For the first week of school you should bring in a picture of a pet that you have or had or wish you could have. (Or you can tell us if you don't have or with to have any pets - that's okay too!) Talking about pets can be easier than talking about yourself, and we still get to know each other a little. This activity will be on Thursday, August 10.
As far as supplies, for Spanish you will need the basic pencil, paper and a section in your binder for handouts and other class materials. I have a vocabulary notebook for you that you will keep in the classroom. The unique item for Spanish is a pair of headphones. If you can get a cheap pair to keep in your backpack, you'll be all set. These should not be expensive or favorites - keep those at home. Dollar stores sell earbuds so inexpensively you may want to get a back up pair in case you lose or break yours. Any time we have an activity with listening, you will be expected to have your headphones. (Without them, you would have to mute your device.)
You will need to have your headphones by Friday, August 11. We will begin to use computers, so be sure to turn in your technology permission form as soon as possible. Your homeroom teacher will collect those.
